Two dead and seven injured in shooting in Escambia County: NorthEscambia.com

On Sunday evening, two people were killed and seven others injured in what appears to be a drive-by shooting in Escambia County.

The shooting occurred shortly before 8 p.m. at the Marie K. Young-Wedgewood Community Center & Park, 6405 Wagner Road. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting occurred during a men’s league basketball game.

A vehicle at the scene showed obvious gunshot damage. Witnesses told our news partners at WEAR 3 that the shooting victims were in or around the car.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene.

Several Escambia County rescue units took the seven injured people to the hospital. Information on their age and condition was not immediately available.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office continued its investigation and was working on a description of the vehicle involved and any possible suspects.
