New Gilbert police report reveals disturbing Snapchat messages after attack on teen

GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) – A Gilbert police report released Wednesday reveals shocking details about an ambush attack on a teenager who is now campaigning for a ban on brass knuckles.

According to documents, the victim, identified as Connor Jarnagan, was waiting with a friend in the parking lot of In-N-Out Burger near Williams Field Road and Santan Village Parkway on December 30, 2022, when the leader of the 10-12 teens told them how nice his red Mustang was.

“You have a really nice car; you must be rich. Give me $20,” the suspect said.

Jarnagan refused, and the leader threatened to take away his car, leading to a fight, police said.

Jarnagan was then reportedly hit on the back of the head with brass knuckles.

Jarnagan or his friend gave the suspect $20 to leave them alone, police said.

Jarnagan and his friend drove to another parking lot and called 911. Jarnagan needed braces for his injury.

The group of youths then dispersed before the police arrived.

The police report describes disturbing Snapchat messages in a group chat hours after the attack.

“Didn’t even fight back…I just spanked his ass because he wouldn’t let me steal his car…Got $20 though,” the suspect said in three messages.

“The only thing I want is for the world to burn lmao. I’m here to burn this world down to (expletive) (racial slur),” read another message.

Other messages read: “Do you have extra ankles? … I’m trying to send these kids to the hospital.”

Jarnagan’s mother posted a message in a Facebook group called “Go Gilbert” detailing what happened to Jarnagan and showing the injury to the back of his head.

She asked for help in finding the suspects.

The next day, around 1 p.m., a new conversation started in the Snapchat group.

“Can we all please go on a police shooting?” one person asked.

“Suicide by cop is the right way,” said another message.

In another group chat, the suspects wrote: “We shouldn’t go in or out anymore” and “They’re patrolling there all the time.”

Another message read: “And once they find out we were involved in all the fighting, we will be charged with over 30 assaults.”

According to police, the Snapchat group chats were named “Untoucahble Ninja’s,” “Goofy goobers,” and “The Streets.”

Some suspects said they were never caught.

“Five brass knuckle incidents, yeah, now they’re not playing,” one person said.

“Grandma, ouch, you can’t catch me,” said another.

A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old were later arrested in the case.

Since the attack, Jarnagan has been calling for a ban on brass knuckles.

While a nationwide ban failed in Parliament, Chandler and Gilbert passed regulations making the weapon illegal.
