Indianapolis man killed in police shooting in Anderson

ANDERSON, Indiana – Indiana State Police are investigating after a man was killed in a police shooting in Anderson Saturday night.

Shortly after 9 p.m., officers with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department executed an arrest warrant in Anderson in the 1600 block of Fairview Street, one block south of State Road 32. When officers arrived, they found the suspect in a car and repeatedly ordered the man to show his hands and step out of the vehicle. According to police, the man refused to comply.

During the altercation, a shootout occurred in which the suspect was injured. Medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office confirmed that no officers were injured in the shooting and only one deputy fired his weapon.

According to ISP, officers found a firearm in the passenger seat of the suspect’s car within reach of the suspect.

The Madison County Coroner identified the man as 44-year-old Lataurus Harrison of Indianapolis.

According to ISP, investigators are currently reviewing body-worn camera footage captured by police officers during the shooting.
