Chicago man signs plea deal for drugging, raping girl

A Chicago man faces decades in prison for drugging and raping a teenage girl and then kicking a woman who tried to intervene in an attack, records show.

Christopher Colbert, 36, signed a plea agreement on May 6 admitting to rape, a Level 1 felony, child molestation, a Level 1 felony, and domestic violence, a Level 6 felony. A judge would have to review and accept the plea deal.

His next court hearing is May 21, where attorneys can consider the plea or begin a trial. The plea deal requires an argued verdict. Documents show he faces between 20 and 92.5 years.

The attacked woman went to Dyer Police Station on November 3, 2023 to report the abuse of a teenage girl.

Colbert set up a Ring video system in the child’s room. A video from October 22 around 11 p.m. showed Colbert lying in bed next to the girl. He sexually abuses the child.

The girl “did not appear to respond” or know “what was going on,” the affidavit states.

When the woman confronted him, Colbert kicked her to the ground. She ran to her bedroom to save the Ring video to her phone. He chased her around, held a gun to her head, then went back into the girl’s room.

The child told investigators that Colbert abused her for seven years, including at homes in Hammond and Dyer. He gave her “drugs,” “weed gummies,” and a “sex pill.”

He gave the children “sleeping pills,” the child said. It made her “dizzy” and she “fell asleep straight away.” He also gave her cocaine in the past, she claimed.
