Retired Chicago police officer shot dead in West Garfield Park – NBC Chicago

A 73-year-old retired Chicago police officer was shot and killed in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on Thursday morning, authorities said.

According to police, the man was in the 4300 block of West Monroe Street shortly after 11:30 a.m. when he suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was subsequently taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

Authorities did not provide further details about the shooting and said no one was in custody.
