Violent crowds disrupt community event in Pennsauken; 6 people arrested

Over the weekend, violent crowds ended a community event in Camden County.

It happened during the annual Summer Kickoff event Saturday night at the Soccer Complex in Pennsauken.

Officials with the Pennsauken Township Police Department said several large crowds formed outside the township during the event. They said the crowds became unruly, leading to the event being shut down.

Four adults were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, and two minors were taken into custody.

  • India Allen, 19, of Pennsauken Township, was charged with disorderly conduct and failure to disperse.
  • Yamilet Meina, 18, of Camden City, was charged with disorderly conduct and failure to disperse.
  • Damien Green, 20, of Pennsauken Township, was charged with disturbing the peace, failing to disperse and resisting arrest.
  • Derek Berry, 18, of Pennsauken Township, was charged with disturbing the peace and failure to disperse.

Officers from neighboring Gloucester and Burlington counties helped with crowd control.

“This type of disorderly conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in Pennsauken Township,” police wrote in a public safety report posted on Facebook.
