Teenager dead after shooting in Avondale

The shooting happened Saturday night near the intersection of Avondale Boulevard and Van Buren Street. Here are the latest details.

AVONDALE, Arizona – A teenager has died following a shooting in Avondale, according to city police.

Avondale police said they were called to the 800 block of 111th Lane, near the intersection of Avondale Boulevard and Van Buren Street, around 8:45 p.m. Saturday for a shooting.

They found a teenager who had been shot in the head. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.

Detectives are investigating on site and the police assume that there is no danger to the public.
