Yakima Police Investigation Into Pleasant Avenue Homicide Continues | Crime & Courts

Yakima police continue to investigate a shooting Friday night that left one person dead.

YPD Lt. Chad Janis said police have identified a “person of interest” in the case.

Police were called to the 900 block of Pleasant Avenue about 6:15 p.m. about shots fired and found a 24-year-old man with gunshot wounds. He was initially taken to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital, a hospital in the western part of the state, where he died, Janis said.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.

The Yakima Association of Faith Communities will hold a blessing hour at noon Thursday in the 900 block of Pleasant Avenue. Community members are invited to come together to bring peace and healing after acts of violence.

The killing is the fourth in Yakima this year and one of eight in the county.
