Katie Price admits she was raped at gunpoint in South Africa

Katie Price has revealed that she was raped at gunpoint by six men while filming in South Africa in 2018 after her car was stolen.

The 44-year-old reality star spoke of a failed suicide attempt that left her “knocked out and black-eyed” as she battled mental health and post-traumatic stress disorder following the horror attack.

Ms Price was thrown from her minivan in the brutal carjacking as she travelled from Johannesburg to Swaziland during the filming of the second series of her ITV reality show My Crazy Life on Quest Red.

She told Mail Online: “When I was filming with ITV in South Africa, we didn’t have security. If we had had security, they would have dealt with the six guys who attacked us, held me at gunpoint and raped me.”

Valuables such as cash and jewelry were looted from the vehicles, but the thieves left expensive camera equipment behind. The armed rapists were never arrested by the police.

Regard: Katie Price was “suicidal”

Price first spoke about the horror attack in a 2020 episode of Channel 4’s SAS: Celebrity Who Dares Wins, saying: “The police said it was a miracle they didn’t kill us.”

Police Commissioner Brigadier Leonard Hlathi told The Sun that the attack occurred when the group turned into a dark alley to use the toilet.

He added that the attackers pulled the keys out of the SUV’s ignition and “threw them into the bushes.”

Ahead of her Channel 4 documentary ‘Katie Price: Trauma And Me’, she candidly admitted that she had reached a ‘dark place’ before her horrific drink-driving accident last year.

She explained: “I live in the country, I had no way to express myself, I needed to talk to someone and that night I let myself down.

“I’m not justifying anything, there was a reason why I got in the car and why my head was like that.

“Unfortunately, I came to this place. I will never come to this place again. It happened and it is real, but I learned from it.”

The star, who still attends weekly therapy sessions, explained she did not check into the Priory to deal with her alcohol or drug problems, but to face her ongoing battle with post-traumatic stress disorder.

“I wish I had done this years ago. Then I would have prevented many of the things I would have said or reacted to.

“I have to accept (certain situations) and not bite back at anything anymore.

“I feel better and stronger. I don’t have to prove anything to anyone or correct anyone. I know the truth. I’ve grown up!”

Katie Price: Trauma And Me airs on Channel 4 on 8 September at 9pm.
