NBA Summer League preview between Rockets and Wizards

The Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards will face off in each team’s second game of the 2024 Las Vegas Summer League. The Rockets, led by the duo of Reed Sheppard and Cam Whitmore, will face Washington’s rookie duo of Alex Sarr and Bub Carrington.

Both teams enter this game with a 1-0 score, with Houston having beaten the Lakers by 19 points in their previous game, while Washington beat the Hawks by six points in their first game.

The 2024 first-round pick, Sarr, had four blocks and a steal in his summer league debut but shot 4-12 to finish with 12 points. He’ll look to get back on track with Carrington, who had a near-20-point triple-double with 19 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

For the Rockets, Sheppard and Whitmore combined for 43 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists against Los Angeles, but it’s important to note that other players also contributed to the win. AJ Griffin’s defense looked significantly better than it did during his time with the Hawks, as he had two steals and two blocks. Nate Williams scored 17 points while shooting 8-14, opening up a third scoring option for the Rockets’ summer league team.

Don’t miss out on seeing how 2.08m pivot N’Faly Dante takes on 2.13m Sarr, as well as the Carrington-Whitmore match. It’s sure to be a clash of attacks, and the better team will have to contain the other’s stars.

The Rockets-Wizards game kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2, with Houston favored by 6.5 points according to ESPN Bet.
