Man dies after boating accident in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) – The Massachusetts Major Crimes Division and the Massachusetts Division of Criminal Investigation are currently investigating a fatal boating accident that occurred this morning on the Taunton River in Fall River.

According to police, a report of two men in distress in the Taunton River was received at around 6:40 a.m.

According to police, two brothers were out fishing when their propeller became caught in a rope.

While attempting to free the propeller, the ship began to take on water.

At some point both men ended up in the water.

One of the men was able to hold on to a flotation device, while the other was unable to stay above water.

Rescue workers managed to get him out of the water and he was taken to Saint Anne’s Hospital.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.

The identities of the two men remained unknown.
