Man planning to sexually abuse 6-year-old girl arrested in DC: police

BOWIE, MD — A Prince George’s man has been charged with a crime after police say he traveled from Bowie to Washington, D.C., with the intent to sexually assault a six-year-old girl.

According to the indictment, which was unsealed on Thursday, June 5, Nathaniel Lamar Nelson Scott, 35, traveled from Maryland to Washington, D.C., to meet at an agreed-upon rendezvous point and was arrested there. Scott has been in custody since his arrest, officials said.

In late May 2024, a member of the MPD-FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force posted a message on a website frequented by individuals who have a sexual interest in children. Scott contacted the undercover agent, who he believed to be the father of a six-year-old girl, and over the following days engaged in explicit conversations about sexually abusing the child. On June 5, according to the FBI, Scott arranged to meet with the undercover agent, who he believed to be the little girl’s father, to engage in sexual acts with the child.

Traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual acts is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.
