Shooting near a college in Los Angeles leaves one dead and four injured, police say

One man was killed and four others injured in a shooting near a college in Los Angeles on Friday evening, police said.

Homicide detectives were involved in the investigation of a fatal shooting in the 800 block of Greenleaf Boulevard in Compton, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

The shooting was reported around 8 p.m. and the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement said.

The other four victims were taken to a local hospital and their condition was not immediately known, the statement said.

According to KCAL-TV, officials said the shooting occurred near Compton College but was not related to the school.

No information was available about a suspect.
