Torrington police searching for man wanted in connection with armed robbery – NBC Connecticut

Police are searching for a man accused of robbing a bank at gunpoint in Torrington Tuesday morning.

Police said they responded to the TD Bank in the Torrington Commons Plaza on High Street at 11 a.m. for a reported robbery.

A man reportedly walked into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding cash while indicating that he had a gun.

According to authorities, the man was handed cash from the register and fled on foot before officers arrived at the scene.

Police believe the man was also involved in a similar incident that occurred Saturday night at the Dunkin’ Donuts on East Main Street. In that incident, he demanded all the money from the drive-thru cash drawer and claimed he had a gun.

According to police, the man was chased away by another customer in the thoroughfare without receiving any money.

Police are looking for 38-year-old Kyle Witkoski in connection with the attempted theft and say they have a warrant for his arrest.

Authorities don’t know if he is armed, but threats were made to use a weapon in both incidents.

Anyone with information about Witkoski’s whereabouts is asked to contact police at 860-489-2000.
