‘Dangerous predator’ who raped woman in Southwark jailed

A man who raped a woman in south-east London has been jailed following a Met investigation.

Petroy Martin, 23, of Doddington Grove, was sentenced to five years and six months in prison at Inner London Crown Court on April 14.

Martin was also handed a sexual violence prevention order after he assaulted a woman last May.

Despite Martin’s conviction, Met Police investigators believe he may have committed further attacks and have urged any other victims to come forward.

“Martin is clearly a dangerous predator whose actions had a life-changing impact on the victim.

“As the judge noted in court, Martin showed no remorse for his ‘vile and bestial’ behavior and we are pleased that he has been taken off the streets of London,” said Detective Constable Jamie Smith, who led the investigation.

“We also know there may be other victims of Martin’s and would encourage anyone who would like to speak to us to get in touch.

“No piece of information is too small and you will be listened to and supported.”

The victim came forward to report a man who raped her on May 22, 2022 after a night out.

Officers identified Martin through social media and arrested him on June 14.
