Postal worker shot outside home in West Pullman – NBC Chicago

A postal worker was shot dead outside an apartment building in Chicago’s West Pullman neighborhood late Friday morning, officials said.

According to authorities, the postal worker, a 48-year-old woman, was outside a residence in the 12100 block of South Harvard Avenue shortly before 11:40 a.m. when an unknown man approached her and opened fire, hitting her multiple times.

The suspect then fled west on 121st Street, police said. No one is in custody.

The woman was taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead. The woman was identified by her union as Octavia Redmond.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is offering a $250,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the murder suspect. The USPIS has a 24/7 hotline that can be reached at 877-876-2455.

The shooting is currently being investigated by Area Two detectives, police said. No further information was available.
