Nina Dobrev has “a long road to recovery” after hospitalization following bicycle accident

Nina Dobrev is “OK,” but she faces a “long” recovery after an accident.

On Monday, the 35-year-old “Vampire Diaries” star shared before-and-after photos on Instagram that appear to show her being hospitalized with numerous injuries.

“How it all began and how it continues,” she captioned the post. The first photo shows her on an e-bike, while the second shows Dobrev lying on a hospital bed with a brace on her left leg and another around her neck.

“I’m fine, but the road to recovery will be long,” she wrote in an Instagram story.

USA TODAY has reached out to Dobrev’s representative for comment.

According to her friend and business partner Julianne Hough, Dobrev seems to be coping well with her injuries: “That’s my girl!” the dancer wrote in a comment under the post. “Of course I wouldn’t joke if you’re not feeling well…”

“I’ll just stick with the brand ❤️,” commented friend Shaun White.

White also posted an Instagram Story on Monday showing Dobrev lying in the seat of a private jet with her dog, Maverick, while her injured leg is concealed in a splint and propped up on a pillow. Dobrev’s latest project, a crime comedy starring Lil Rel Howery called “Reunion,” is out June 28.

Since her days as Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce in “Vampire Diaries” ended in 2017, the film and television actress has worked as a producer, actress and director.

“Telling provocative, interesting and powerful stories by women for women has always been at the core of many projects,” she told Flaunt Magazine in a 2021 interview.

“When I moved to the United States, there weren’t many opportunities for me as a producer,” added Dobrev, who was born in Bulgaria and moved to Canada with her family.

“It took me a while to get to where I am now. Part of that is because I had the confidence and the feeling that I could do it, but it was also because I didn’t see many examples of it. When I started my career, there weren’t many people in this world that I could look up to.”
