Widow: Man arrested for raping his widow | News from Chandigarh

Mohali: Mohali police have arrested a man who allegedly raped a widow on the pretext of marriage. The rape survivor also accused the man of physically torturing her. Police produced the accused before a local court and got him remanded in custody for a day for further interrogation. The woman was working in a private company where she met the accused for the first time.

The Allahabad High Court granted bail to Ravindra Singh Rathaur, who was accused of raping a woman by allegedly using chloroform. Judge Krishan Pahal pointed out that it was unlikely that an inexperienced person would use chloroform without causing a disturbance. Rathaur was accused of intentionally marrying the victim, concealing his previous marriage and threatening to upload private videos. The court stressed the principle of presumption of innocence.

Rape victim receives $200,000 in compensation for psychological and physical trauma

A fast-track Pocso court in Panaji ordered compensation of Rs 200,000 to a rape victim within a month. The victim was severely traumatized since 2016 and missed out on educational and employment opportunities. The perpetrator did not support her financially despite the seriousness of the offence. The court also referred the case to the district collector for further action under the relevant protection programmes.

Delhi police arrest ‘Spider Man’ for violating traffic rules

Delhi Police arrested a man dressed as Spider-Man for traffic violations while sitting on a car bonnet on Dwarka Road. The man was identified as Aditya and the driver as Gaurav Singh. They were charged with dangerous driving and other violations, which could result in them facing fines or jail time. Earlier, another Spiderman duo was arrested for performing stunts in Dwarka.
