Florida man arrested for making death threats against Trump and Vance on Facebook

A Florida man was arrested and charged Friday for allegedly threatening to kill Donald Trump and JD Vance, authorities said.

According to a statement from Jupiter Police, Michael Wiseman made threats against the Republican presidential nomination in Facebook posts.

“After examining the suspect’s reports and Facebook account, JPD investigators determined that Wiseman had made multiple threats against Trump and Vance, who were nominated as the Republican presidential and vice presidential candidates earlier this week, respectively,” the statement said. “There were also threats of physical harm against members of the Trump and Vance families.”

The police said they had received several tips about the 68-year-old’s alleged posts.

The arrest came less than a week after Trump was targeted in an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Jupiter Deputy Police Chief Michael Barbera told local ABC affiliate WPBF on Friday that last Saturday’s events played a role in the handling of the matter.

“We at the Jupiter Police Department take all threats to people seriously, but in light of the events of a few days ago, we have gone a step further,” he said.

Elsewhere in Florida, another man was arrested this week for allegedly threatening to kill President Joe Biden.
