An investigation is underway following the death of an inmate in Porter County Jail

VALPARAISO, Indiana – An investigation is ongoing after an inmate was found dead at the Porter County Jail Thursday night.

According to Detective Sgt. Nathan Graf of the Porter County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to the jail shortly after 8 p.m. after a report of an unconscious male inmate who was not breathing.

Shortly afterwards, rescue workers arrived and the prisoner was pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances of the prisoner’s death are currently unclear and his identity has not yet been established by the authorities.
