Over 100 shots fired in Miami shooting that leaves one man dead – NBC 6 South Florida

Miami police are investigating a violent shooting in Miami on Monday that left one man dead and another seriously injured.

Shortly before 7 p.m., officers arrived at the scene near NW 51st Street and 2nd Avenue in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood and found two men with gunshot wounds. They were transported by Miami Fire Rescue to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where one of them died, according to police.

Miami Police PIO Michael Vega briefed NBC6 on the case on Tuesday and identified the deceased man as 24-year-old Andre Mitchell.

“We know that the two victims were in their vehicle when two other vehicles drove by and started shooting at each other,” Vega said.

Dozens of pieces of evidence lined the street and several bullets struck Half Moon Empanadas.

“There were over 100 shots fired at each other and any one of those ricochets could have hit a person in the house or even one of the children playing in the park across the street,” Vega said.

Police said another fatal shooting early Monday around 2 p.m. may be related.

“We are investigating this as a possible gang-related incident. In both this incident and yesterday’s incident, we believe these are rival gangs and there is something going on where they are trying to kill each other,” Vega said.

Police did not provide a description of the suspect and said the shooters are still on the run. If you have any information, contact Crime Stoppers.
