One person arrested after shooting near Opelousas Church’s Chicken

OPELOUSAS, Louisiana – An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting that occurred near Church’s Chicken in Opelousas.

According to Opelousas Police, on June 23, 2024, shortly before 11:00 a.m., officers were called to a shooting near Church’s Chicken on North Main Street.

The victim, Stephon Reed, was found with gunshot wounds and taken to Lafayette General Hospital for treatment, officials say.

After an investigation, Todd Stelly was arrested for the following reasons:

  • Attempted second degree murder
  • Possession of a firearm or concealed carrying of a weapon by a person convicted of certain crimes

The incident occurred in the 100 block of East Prudhomme Street.
