New Haven man arrested after missing Connecticut teen found 45 miles from Connecticut-New York border – NBC Connecticut

A missing Connecticut teenager was found in New York on Sunday after local police arrested a suspect in connection with her disappearance.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Montgomery Police Chief John Hank said officers were alerted shortly before 10:45 p.m. on Sunday and were searching for a 24-year-old New Haven man wanted in connection with a missing 15-year-old Connecticut girl.

Officers found the suspect’s vehicle in Montgomery – 45 miles from the Connecticut state line – after Connecticut State Police traced the location of his cellphone in the area of ​​Routes 747 and 17K, Hank said.

The suspect, who police found alone in the vehicle, according to Hank, reportedly told officers that he “told the missing juvenile to run out of the vehicle” as police approached.

With assistance from a neighboring police department, officers used a search and rescue dog and a drone to find the missing Connecticut teenager in a nearby wooded area, Montgomery police said.

Police found the teenager “in good health” and took her to a local hospital for examination and reunification with her family.

The suspect was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. After his arraignment, he was served with a restraining order for the victim and released on parole.
