5 held in Berhampur for drug abuse and rape of a minor girl

Bhubaneswar: Baidanathpur police arrested five people for drug consumption and raping a Plus II student in Berhampur a few days ago, Berhampur Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarthak Sarangi said.

According to the SP, none of the accused youths are friends of the victim. They are all adults. The girl was standing on the side of the road when the defendant called her to a private mass, drugged her and then gang-raped her.

The matter came to light after the rape victim lodged a complaint in this regard. Based on the complaint, Baidyanathpur police had registered a case in this regard in Berhampur and arrested eight people.

According to the complaint, the rape survivor had gone to a friend’s house in Berhampur where she was allegedly drugged and raped multiple times by eight people. Her friends reportedly forced her to drink cold, drug-laced drinks before raping her.
