Danville police have released the names of the victims in two shootings on June 9.

The victim of the Dillehay Street shooting was identified as 37-year-old Justin Gray. The man shot in the 300 block of North Fifth Street was identified as 43-year-old Maurice Stitt, who died as a result of his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, but Danville police cannot provide any current information on possible motives, suspects or a possible connection between the shootings.

“We are not ruling anything out at this time,” said Glenn Doan, deputy police chief of Danville.

The two shootings occurred within an hour of each other in the early morning hours of June 9. At 2:51 a.m., Danville police responded to a call from a private club called “The Den” at 750 Dillehay Street. Police found the gun that had been fired there. No victim was found at the scene, but minutes later, emergency responders responded to a residence on Mason Avenue, where Gray suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and has since been released.

At 3:47 a.m., police responded to a shooting call in the 300 block of North Fifth Street. Upon arrival, officers found Stitt in a pickup truck that had crashed into the yard of a residence. Stitt had multiple gunshot wounds. Police found Stitt traveling on North Fifth Street, where an unknown number of gunmen fired at him from the west side of the street. Police believe Stitt attempted to back up before crashing the truck. Stitt was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
