The Houston Texans are scheduled to begin 2024 training camp on July 18

Amid the sweltering heat, constant humidity, and tropical storm of the day, as June draws to a close, you can feel it in the air. The most anticipated training camp in Houston Texans history is almost here.

On Tuesday morning, the Texans set the camp dates, exactly one month before the doors opened to the media, and one month and five days before they opened to the general ticket-holding public.

The Texans’ training camp intake this year will be unlike anything we’ve seen in at least five years, maybe more. This team is one of the hottest commodities in the NFL right now. Whether they deserve to be is a separate topic, but the fact is that they are. With that in mind, here’s what you need to know about Houston Texans training camp:

It all starts a week earlier than usual, thank you Andre Johnson!
If you’re looking at July 18 as the camp start date and thinking, “Wow, that seems awfully early!” ”, then you are absolutely right. It’S awfully early, and we’ll soon have to be inducted into the Andre Johnson Hall of Fame to thank. With Johnson part of the 2024 Hall of Fame class, the NFL listed the Texans and Chicago Bears as teams participating in the Hall of Fame game on Aug. 1, in Canton, Ohio, a week before others teams do not play a preparatory match. . So the Texans are allowed to start camp a week early, and they will. The players probably hate it, but for those who LOVE training camp (raise hand), it’s like Christmas moved forward to December 18th.

Here are the dates open to the public
If you’re a Texans fan looking to go to training camp, I repeat: demand for tickets is going to be insane this preseason. Season ticket holders already got their chance at tickets on Tuesday, and they open availability to the general public on Thursday this week (details on the Houston Texans website). Here are the dates open to the public:

The Texans will be training in Ohio for a week, thanks AGAIN Andre Johnson!
If you’re wondering why there’s a huge gap between open workouts – after July 29, there’s no more until the night workout on August 11 – you can still thank Andre Johnson! Since the Texans are playing the Steelers in Pittsburgh the week after the Hall of Fame game in Canton, the team decided to stay in Ohio and practice there that week. It saves them from having to go back to Houston for three days and, let’s face it, the weather is much nicer there the first week of August.

The Los Angeles Rams will join us for a joint workout!
One of the best things about hiring DeMeco Ryans is that he LOVES joint practices with other teams. We had the Dolphins in town last season, and now this preseason the Texans will practice with the Los Angeles Rams on August 22, ahead of the two teams’ matchup later this weekend. It should be fun to watch offensive rookie of the year finalist Puka Nacua, wide receiver Cooper Krupp and aging legend QB Matthew Stafford up close.
