Police: Attempted rapist broke into woman’s apartment through bathroom window – American Press

A man from Lake Charles is behind bars today. He is accused of breaking into a woman’s apartment and sexually assaulting her.

Lake Charles Police Lt. Brenda Treadway said her office received a call from the victim shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday morning, reporting that a man had broken into her Eddy Street apartment by breaking a bathroom window.

She said the man sexually abused her and she was able to escape while the man was still in her apartment.

Treadway said the man was identified as 30-year-old Zechariah Moore.

“Patrol officers arrived on scene and found Moore hiding in the victim’s apartment,” Treadway said.

He was transported to the Lake Charles Police Department and arrested for burglary of a home and attempted second-degree rape. No bail was set. Moore was later transported to the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Facility for custody.
