Actor Steve Buscemi punched in the face in random attack in New York

Ouch! Famous actor Steve Buscemi was attacked by a random person in New York City.

Buscemi, who starred in “Fargo,” “Boardwalk Empire” and other classic films and series, was walking through Kips Bay when he was hit in broad daylight, the NY Post reports.

Luckily, the actor seems to be doing well. He has mild swelling in his face and left eye and sought treatment at Bellevue Hospital – certainly an unpleasant experience.

The criminal who did this to him fled and was not found. However, the NYPD released a surveillance photo of the man who allegedly attacked Steve.

About Steve Buscemi’s attack in New York

A statement from Buscemi’s publicists said: “Steve Buscemi was attacked in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of random violence in the city.”

“He is doing well and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, although it is incredibly sad for everyone that this happened while he was walking the streets of New York at the same time,” the publicist added.

A worker who witnessed the attack said: “I saw he was with a woman and then I saw him stumble through the corner of the window and fall backwards. He immediately got up and ran in the opposite direction. I didn’t see who hit him.”

Given his close ties to the city, it is unfortunate that this happened where it did. At one point he was an FDNY firefighter and was from New York. He was one of the brave firefighters who rushed to the World Trade Center after the September 11 attacks.

Buscemi isn’t the only actor being randomly attacked in New York.

Michael Stuhbarg, who also starred as Arnold Rothstein in “Boardwalk Empire,” was hit in the neck with a rock on March 31. Meanwhile, Rick Moranis and Bethenny Frankel were also attacked in the city.

It’s not just actors either. More and more women are being attacked in New York, as CBS News reported a few weeks ago.

“It was like a zombie was running around and just hit me and just kept running, out of nowhere,” Eliana Benigar said of a recent incident. She is one of dozens of women sharing their stories online.

Meanwhile, the actor is still working harder than ever. He will join Jenna Ortega as a regular on Season 2 on Wednesday. New regulars also include Billie Piper, Evis Templeton, Owen Painter, Noah Taylor, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonex and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, IndieWire reports.

Wednesday was the most popular English TV series on Netflix. The first season, about the Addams Family’s teenage daughter enrolled at Nevermore Academy, garnered 252.10 million views.

Luckily Steve Buscemi is fine and can hopefully continue. And let’s hope these unprovoked attacks in the Big Apple come to an end soon.
