KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) – A North Carolina man was arrested and charged with attempted murder after they say he shot at family members.

Cameron Edmundson, 20, was arrested by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office on a half-dozen charges, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder, after he was arrested during a domestic dispute that officers responded to Saturday.

Edmundson was formally charged with:

  • Two counts of attempted first-degree murder
  • One count of discharging a weapon into an inhabited property
  • One count of assault with a pointed firearm
  • One count of simple assault
  • A charge of criminal damage

The 20-year-old was not granted bail for all offenses but was given secured bail for the criminal damage charge. The incident remains under investigation and additional charges are pending.

Officers responded to 6728 Skeeter Pond Road on Saturday for a domestic violence 911 call. En route, Lenoir told County Communications that the disturbance had become physical and that Edmundson had weapons in his possession.

Dispatch later said the suspect fired at residents of the home with a handgun and fired at family members and neighbors with an AR-15 rifle on the home’s back porch.

Officers arrived and confronted Edmundson, where he was observed armed with the AR-15 rifle and a semi-automatic weapon. Officers approached him and ordered him to drop his weapons. Edmundson did so and was taken into custody and arrested.

During the investigation, officers learned that Edmundson shot family members inside the home, outside and into a vehicle as they attempted to leave the home. Family members drove to a neighbor’s home, where they said Edmundson also shot at that home.

Several firearms were seized during the investigation, including the AR-15 rifle and handgun used in the attack. Officers also found and seized Schedule VI marijuana and Schedule I psychedelic mushrooms from Edmundson.
