Unmarked police vehicle stolen while Ohio detective on break – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

COLUMBUS, Ohio – An unmarked police vehicle was stolen while a Columbus Division of Police detective was on break Wednesday evening.

Police said the Hyundai Elantra was reportedly locked and in the parking lot of a Skyline Chili in Columbus at the time of the theft. Our news partners at WBNS reported.

The preliminary investigation revealed that three suspects were seen on surveillance video approaching the car.

One of the suspects allegedly broke the driver’s side window with a screwdriver.

According to the report, the suspect is then seen climbing through the window and driving away.

The car was found on South Oakley Ave. in the Hilltop neighborhood Thursday afternoon. recovered.

There were no weapons or bulletproof vests in the car when it was stolen, but a gun belt, laptop and other city-issued items were determined to be stolen, according to police.

So far there have been no arrests.
