Arkansas State Police provide update on DeValls Bluff standoff investigation

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – Arkansas State Police officials will hold a press conference Friday to provide an update on the investigation into a standoff in DeValls Bluff that ended Thursday with the death of a Little Rock man.

During the standoff, officials said, there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and members of the ASP SWAT team before he was shot.


The standoff began Thursday morning as authorities attempted to execute an arrest warrant. Investigators said the suspect barricaded himself inside a home on East Walnut Street around 9:30 a.m. before he began shooting at police officers.

According to authorities, no police officers were injured in the altercation.

ASP Director Col. Mike Hagar will be joined at the press conference by Cory Harris, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Arkansas, Kevin Sanders, Marshals Service Task Force Chief, and Jonathan Ross, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas.

The conference will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the ASP headquarters in Little Rock.
