Six people shot, one killed in downtown St. Louis | News

ST. LOUIS – Six people were shot and one man died in downtown St. Louis early Sunday.

Police responded to a report of multiple people shot at about 3:30 a.m. and were dispatched to the corner of 10th and Market Streets. This block is home to the Citygarden sculpture park and is about a block north of the Thomas Eagleton Federal Courthouse.

According to initial investigations, the police believe that a fight broke out between women in the park. At some point, men with firearms also joined the fight.

At least one weapon was seized at the crime scene, police said.

According to police, the man killed and the injured were in their early to mid-20s. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals with obvious gunshot wounds.

The shooting was the ninth homicide this year in the Downtown and Downtown West neighborhoods, according to city police crime records. There were only six homicides in all of last year, and nine in 2022.
