Health warning for Albuquerque due to dust

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – The City of Albuquerque announced Wednesday that a health alert has been issued due to airborne dust. The alert from the Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Air Quality Program is in effect from 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 through 6:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20.

Individuals with respiratory illnesses in the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County should limit their outdoor activities. The City recommends taking the following steps when health alerts are issued:


  • Limit the time you spend outdoors and avoid outdoor physical activity
  • Keep windows and doors closed
  • Use air conditioning and heating systems in recirculation mode
  • Contact your doctor if you experience new shortness of breath, chest tightness, chest pain, palpitations, or unusual tiredness.
