Investigations into cross-district murder | What happened to Tracy Scanlon?

Scanlon is originally from Allegheny County but traveled to Dauphin County in February. She disappeared there.

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. – Authorities in several counties continue to search for the body of a missing woman.

Tracy Scanlon has not been seen or heard from since February. The police now assume that she was killed.

Scanlon, who also goes by the last name Zalenski, is originally from Allegheny County.

According to her profile on the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, Tracy left home on February 7 and traveled to Harrisburg. She had planned to return to the Pittsburgh area on March 1, but that never happened.

She was last seen leaving the Wine & Spirits Store, located in a strip mall on Union Deposit Road in Lower Paxton Township.

According to police, she was staying with an acquaintance nearby in the 3300 block of Union Deposit Road in Susquehanna Township.

The last time anyone had contact with her was February 20th.

Late last week, Susquehanna Parish police announced that what began as a missing person case is now a murder investigation.

On Friday, May 3, FOX43 was on the scene as dozens of teams searched nearly 10 miles of Little Conewago and Conewago Creeks in York County in connection with this case.

They searched from Conewago Township to York Haven but found no results.

We reached out to Susquehanna Township police, who were leading the investigation, on Tuesday and asked why authorities believe Scanlon was murdered and why they were searching in York County.

The department’s chief, Robert Martin, declined to answer those questions, saying only: “This is an ongoing investigation and we have no comment.”

FOX43 also reached out to the Millvale Police Department in Allegheny County, where Scanlon is originally from. Investigators there are working with authorities in Dauphin County on this case.

Millvale’s chief was out of the office Tuesday but told FOX43 he would refer our questions to the detective assigned to the case. This detective had not responded to our inquiry as of Tuesday afternoon.
