Steve Buscemi was hospitalized after being attacked on the street in New York City

Miracle worker Star Steve Buscemi is the latest celebrity to be accidentally attacked while walking the streets of New York City.

As reported by the New York PostBuscemi, a New York native, was walking in the Kips Bay neighborhood of East Manhattan last Wednesday morning (May 8) when a man approached him and punched him in the face.

The Boardwalk Empire The actor suffered swelling of his left eye and face as a result of the attack and was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. The attacker has since fled and is still wanted by the police.

“Steve Buscemi was attacked in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of random violence in the city,” Buscemi’s publicist said in a statement to the post. “He is doing well and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, although he is incredibly sad for everyone that this happened while he was also walking the streets of New York.”

Buscemi is the latest celebrity to fall victim to a random attack in broad daylight in the Big Apple in recent months. In April Buscemis Boardwalk Empire Co-star Michael Stuhlbarg was struck in the neck by a rock while jogging along East 90th and East Drive.

Meanwhile, in March, former Real Housewives of New York Star Bethenny Frankel revealed she was accidentally punched in the face by a man while filming a video from a bakery.

In 2022, a homeless man pleaded guilty to punching Ghostbusters Actor Rick Moranis in Central Park West in October 2020.

These random attacks have increased in recent months as part of a “viral” TikTok trend in which people, mostly unsuspecting women, are punched in the face while filming videos in New York.

In March, New York police arrested a man who was allegedly involved in at least one of these attacks.

“The NYPD is aware of a viral video circulating on social media showing a woman being randomly attacked in an unprovoked attack.” The NYPD posted on its official X account. “The individual was arrested and charged and is a criminal recidivist with an extensive criminal record.”

“Your officers will continue to work diligently to stop perpetrators of violence to ensure the safety of our communities,” the statement continued.

Buscemi was last seen in an episode of Curb your enthusiasmis the final season. He is also known for his roles in The sopranos, 30 RockAnd Miracle worker. He will next be seen in Netflix’s upcoming second season Wednesday.
