Rape: Police officer arrested for raping minor girl | News from Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A police constable from Cyberabad police commissionerate has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor from the Dalit community after promising to marry her. The 30-year-old constable, who is currently posted at RGI Airport police station, is already married, according to police. A case was registered under IPC section rape and under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act after the 17-year-old lodged a complaint at Rajendra Nagar police station on Wednesday night. The girl said they lived in the same locality and had met and gotten acquainted at a religious place. She alleged that the constable lured her on the pretext of love and raped her. He started avoiding her. When the girl realised that she had been duped, she went to the police. The constable was produced before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody. The girl was sent to a centre in Bharosa. tnn
