25-year-old Covington man killed in car crash in St. Tammany Parish

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, Louisiana (WGNO) – A Covington man was killed after a head-on collision in St. Tammany Parish Friday morning.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop L, officers began investigating the two-vehicle crash that killed 25-year-old Jonathan Brister shortly after 10:15 a.m. on July 26. The crash reportedly occurred on Louisiana Highway 21 near Louisiana Highway 1053.


Initial investigations revealed that a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Brister was traveling north on LA Highway 21 while a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south. For reasons currently unknown, the Cruze crossed the center line of the highway and collided head-on with the Silverado.

Brister was not restrained at the time of the accident. He was taken to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Silverado was restrained, suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to a local hospital.

As part of the investigation, routine toxicological samples were taken from both drivers.

The investigations are still ongoing.
