A defendant who authorities say failed to appear in Grundy County District Court nearly three years ago was arrested in Jackson County. James Leon Baker, 63, of Versailles, was arrested on a Grundy County warrant for failure to appear in court in August 2021.

Baker is now scheduled to appear in Grundy County District Court’s First Division on August 15. He was originally charged with failing to report a change of address as a convicted sex offender. Baker pleaded guilty in June 2020. At the time, his sentence was suspended in favor of probation, but the probation has now been suspended by the court until further notice.

Baker’s bail is set at $10,000 cash.
