The video recording the attack shows the attackers aggressively attacking the driver, ignoring desperate pleas for mercy. Swift police intervention eventually ended the violence, allowing the ambulance to proceed to the hospital and ensuring the safety of the passengers.

“An ambulance driver was driving his vehicle fast and overtook an Innova car. The occupants of the Innova resisted the overtaking manoeuvres. Near Nelamangala toll plaza, Innova drivers took over the ambulance and attacked the driver. We have filed a complaint and are investigating further. The investigation will reveal whether they were drunk while driving the vehicle,” Mallikarjun Baldandi, SP of Bengaluru Rural, said, according to the release.

The opposition BJP in the state was quick to take action against the authorities on the issue. “Rampage by goons, protecting influencers for extortion, gratuitous killings, all these are commonplace under @INCKarnataka regime. Even if you drive drunk on the state’s roads in broad daylight, the police will not stop you! The hooligans who beat up the driver while blocking the ambulance shows how widespread anarchy is,” the BJP’s Karnataka unit wrote on ‘X’.

“Home Minister @DrParameshwara, do you even remember that you are the Home Minister of the state? Till now your role was limited to making a statement. Even that seems to be no more now. #CongressFailsKarnataka,” they added.
