Omaha police investigate shooting in north Omaha

Omaha police responded to a shooting near 25th Avenue and Taylor Street around 3 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a person with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was taken to the hospital where CPR was performed. Officers were able to revive the victim, whose condition is now stabilized. A second person was treated for a minor injury related to the incident. Police found shell casings at the scene and are currently collecting evidence to reconstruct what happened. David Love, owner of Omaha Locked Down Protective Services, reported hearing the gunshots. “We heard maybe eight to nine gunshots at 24th and Cumming Streets,” Love said. “When we heard the shooting, my team and I braced ourselves because we initially thought the shooting was going to happen at 24th and Lake Streets.” Love said the shooting was so loud it seemed closer than it was. “It sounded very close, but people later saw it was coming from the Los Diablos Club and went to the gas station,” he said. “They said they left because of the shooting at the corner of 25th Street and Ames Avenue.” Authorities have not identified a suspect or determined a motive for the shooting.
