Fairfax County Police are asking for help in identifying a man

Police said the man was found in the lobby of an apartment complex on Argyle Drive in Baileys Crossroads in April.

BAILEY’S CROSSROADS, Va. — Fairfax County police need your help as they try to identify a man who reportedly died in April.

On April 6, police said they were called to a residence on Argyle Drive, near Carlyn Court in Bailey’s Crossroads.

“They responded to a report of a person unresponsive and lying in the lobby of an apartment building,” said Major Daniel Spital of the Fairfax County Police Department’s Major Crimes Bureau.

He says the man was pronounced dead at the scene, but unfortunately they were unable to identify him.

According to police, he is about 30 to 40 years old, about 1.65 m tall and weighs 77 kg.

“It’s been almost two months now. Our detectives have been combing the area. We’ve done a sketch. We’ve gone out into the neighborhood, we’ve gone out into the community. We’ve knocked on doors. We’ve tried to contact anyone in the area just to find out if anyone knows this person. Unfortunately, our attempts have been unsuccessful so far. We’re reaching out to the media, we’re reaching out to the community to really try to get justice for the deceased,” said Major Spital.

Police said they are still awaiting the final coroner’s report, but do not believe a crime was committed.

“There were no injuries, nothing in the area that would indicate any suspected crime. Often times the crime scene tells us everything we need to know, but unfortunately that was not the case. We just had a dead person in a hallway,” Spital said.

WUSA9 asked how they could be sure no crime had been committed, especially given the man’s suspected age.

“At 30 to 40 years old, we certainly wouldn’t expect someone to die of natural causes. While there may have been something involved, we don’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved, but we also don’t believe anyone intentionally harmed this person,” Spital said.

He told WUSA9 that’s why it’s so important for them to identify this man.

“We are convinced that someone knows who he is and we are simply asking for his help,” said Spital.
