Suspect of drive-by shooting in downtown Spokane arrested after returning from European vacation

The suspect in a July 7 shooting that injured two people in downtown Spokane was arrested Sunday as he re-entered the country after a vacation abroad.

The suspect, Moses Adedeji, 22, was arrested without incident by the U.S. Marshals Service at Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina after returning from the United Kingdom, according to a U.S. Marshals Service press release.

The drive-by shooting occurred near North Division Street and East Main Avenue around 2 p.m. on July 7 and left two people injured. Both victims were treated at the scene and then transported to a local hospital, the news release said.

According to the press release, the Spokane Police Department Major Crimes Unit identified Adedeji as a suspect on July 15. Adedeji’s arrest was made in cooperation with several law enforcement agencies, the press release states, including the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, the Spokane Police Department Major Crimes Unit and a detachment of the U.S. Border Patrol Anti-Smuggling Unit.

Adedeji was booked by Raleigh police into the Wake County Detention Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. He is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and his bail has been set at $1 million, the release said.
