Craig Wright’s false identity as Satoshi Nakamoto!

The self-proclaimed inventor of Bitcoin is once again in the spotlight. Craig Wright has faced significant legal backlash and controversy over his claim that he is Bitcoin’s pseudonymous inventor, Satoshi Nakamoto.

On July 16, the UK High Court issued a ruling against Wright, firmly holding that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto! The statement came after a thorough review of evidence presented by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), a group dedicated to promoting innovation in the evolving crypto space.

Forgeries and lies uncovered

It all started in 2016 when Wright claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto and attempted to assert his rights to Bitcoin’s intellectual property in a very aggressive manner.

However, the court found that Wright had fabricated forgeries and manipulated documents to support his own claims. The turning point came when Judge James Mellor concluded that the creator of a highly technical system such as Bitcoin would not make the negligent errors identified in Wright’s evidence.

But the verdict didn’t stop there! Judge Mellor not only ruled against Wright’s claims, but also referred Wright to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for possible charges of perjury and forgery. The judge stressed that Wright had lied massively and falsified documents “on a large scale”. The CPS will decide whether to charge Wright with the offences and possibly seek his arrest and extradition.

Wright’s legal problems only worsened when he lost a defamation lawsuit against podcaster Peter McCormack, which resulted in the freezing of his assets to cover $2 million in legal fees. In addition, the court issued several injunctions against Wright, prohibiting him from making any further claims that he was Satoshi Nakamoto. He had to delete all such claims from his website where he claimed to be Satoshi!

As an update, Wright’s website now displays a disclaimer stating that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto.

Authorities asked him not to take legal action based on his false claims. This development is a significant moment in the ongoing story about the true inventor of Bitcoin. It also serves as a warning against making unproven claims in the crypto world.

Final thoughts

This investigation is almost complete. While the crypto community awaits the results of the CPS investigation, this case shows the importance of honesty and transparency in the industry. Such incidents are a lesson for a better future, as the ruling affects Wright and sets an example for how to handle similar lawsuits in the future.
