Weather warning…Long-lasting heatwave and increased fire risk | Weather

WEATHER WARNING- Long-lasting heat wave with record-breaking temperatures.

WHEN: Friday, July 5, 12pm Until Saturday, July 13, 10pm

Excessive heat with temperatures between 95° and 110°. High risk of heat-related illness. Drink plenty of water and act immediately if symptoms of heat exhaustion occur.

A strong ridge continues to build off the coast and slowly moves east. By Tuesday, the high pressure system will be directly over the Pacific Northwest, making Tuesday and Wednesday the hottest days of the week. Next weekend, it will cool slightly to just above 38 degrees as a shortwave trough circles the high pressure system. While the shortwave will not cool temperatures significantly, temperatures will rise again to just above 37 degrees and below 30 degrees.

There will be a high fire danger in Kittitas County on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Wind speeds will be around 15 mph, creating a significant wildfire danger.
