A murder investigation is underway in McDonald County.

Just after 12:30 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to the Minnow Springs area of ​​Noel for a fatal stabbing.

A police officer managed to locate the suspect a short distance from the crime scene.

Garrett Lee Sumpter, 32, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, is being held on charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
