Residents of Moses Lake retirement community attacked | Columbia Basin

MOSES LAKE – A person was taken into custody after attacking tenants at the Avamere Independent and Assisted Living Retirement Community on Wednesday, according to Moses Lake police. According to police, 53-year-old Avamere resident Kristina Berto was having ongoing problems with some other tenants. An Avamere employee called police after Berto allegedly pushed a 63-year-old male resident against a wall and choked him. She is also said to have slapped a 67-year-old resident. Both residents reported pain but no injury. Avamere decided to involve the police out of fear that Berto would attack him again. Berto was arrested and jailed on two counts of fourth-degree assault.
