AFL MRO: 17 Western Derby players receive penalties, three are suspended – AFL News

Three opponents in last night’s heated Western Derby have been suspended for one game each, each in a different quarter of the heated affair.

Jack Petruccelle’s accidental shove of Dockers ruckman Sean Darcy in the early stages of the game was judged to be careless, of medium force and high speed and reported the same evening, which now puts the Eagles speedster out of action.

A punch by champion Nat Fyfe against Eagle Mid Jai Culley was ruled deliberate and too high, which also eliminated him from the 21st round.

And finally, Jack Hutchinson was suspended for his attempted choking and subsequent shoving of Dockers star Andrew Brayshaw, an eerily similar clash to the Maynard/Brayshaw incident last September.

Fifteen other fines were imposed in connection with the game, all of which were minimum fines of $1,250 and $1,875 respectively.

Dockers Nat Fyfe, Andrew Brayshaw, Sam Sturt, Luke Ryan, Tom Emmett, Michael Frederick, Corey Wagner and Josh Treacy can all accept their early appeals for their close-range efforts or Fyfe’s careless contact with a referee.

Eagles Liam Ryan, Jayden Hunt, Reuben Ginbey, Oscar Allen, Bailey Williams, Ryan Maric and Harry Edwards all received the same penalty.

Rising Sun Bodhi Uwland was suspended for hard contact with Lion champion Lachie Neale in Saturday’s Q-Clash, having been accused of careless medium and high contact in the second round.

Shin guard George Wardlaw escaped a heavy penalty for his tripping incident with Cat Shaun Mannagh and was instead fortunately awarded an early payment of $2,500.

Saint Anthony Caminiti must pay $1,250 for his careless contact with a referee in the second quarter of St Kilda’s surprise match against Essendon.

Possible challenges to some sanctions will be confirmed shortly.
