Consumer warning issued for Pittsburgh pizzeria

The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert following an inspection of a local pizzeria.

Mia Pizza on Baum Boulevard in Bloomfield had a total of 13 violations following an inspection on Wednesday, May 8.

A high-risk violation involving raw chicken wings at dangerous temperatures has been observed. They were stored in a walk-in cooler at 46 degrees.

An employee knew how long the chicken wings had been in the fridge. They were thrown away.

Raw chicken on tomatoes was also observed in a cooler. This is a repeat violation.

Fresh rodent droppings were found in several areas. This is also a repeat violation.

It was noted that the front door was open and large flies were seen in the food preparation area.

The blade of a can opener was found “dirty” on a prep table.

A consumer warning was also issued for a supermarket in Bloomfield following an inspection on Wednesday.
