Musician Travis Scott was arrested early Thursday morning and booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail on charges of trespassing after a warning and driving while intoxicated, county jail records show.

Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster and the hip-hop artist has written hits such as “Sikko Mode” and “Fe!N,” was arrested at 1:44 a.m. at the Miami Beach Marina and taken to jail at 4:35 a.m., according to agency and jail records.

The 33-year-old was held on $650 bail, jail records show. Scott was released from jail on bail Thursday morning, according to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County.

Bradford Cohen, a legal representative for Scott, said in an emailed statement to CNN that the artist “was briefly detained due to a misunderstanding. There was absolutely no physical altercation and we thank the authorities for working with us to reach a quick and amicable resolution.”

Scott is one of the biggest rap artists of the last decade and is perhaps best known for his wild live performances that have occasionally spiraled out of control, including a deadly show at the Astroworld Festival in 2021 that left 10 people dead.

The incident began early Thursday when Scott was on a charter boat and became involved in a disturbance/argument with the crew, police said. Officers were called to the marina and he was asked to leave the boat. Scott left the boat and returned a second time, again got into an argument with the crew and was again asked to leave the boat. After he refused, he was arrested, police said.

The arrest affidavit provides further details about the incident. According to the affidavit, police were called to the dock to respond to a report of a fight on a yacht. Officers observed Scott yelling at the occupants and could detect a “strong odor of alcohol” on his breath, the affidavit states.

There was no physical altercation, a source close to Scott told CNN.

Scott was ordered to leave or he would be arrested. He then walked to a vehicle and left the marina. He returned about five minutes later, ignored officers’ orders not to go to the yacht and “again began yelling, becoming erratic and disturbing the peace” and was taken into custody, the affidavit states.

“The defendant later admitted to drinking alcohol and said, ‘It’s Miami,'” the affidavit states.

The affidavit also states that ten officers used body-worn cameras.

Scott’s greatest musical success came with his 2018 album Astroworld and its No. 1 hit single “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake, which sampled from a remarkable range of sources. The album was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Album, and “Sicko Mode” was nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.

Last year he released “UTOPIA,” which was nominated for Best Rap Album, his 10th Grammy nomination.

In November 2021, Scott’s performance at the Astroworld Festival became a mass casualty incident when 10 people were killed and 300 injured during his performance in Houston as a crowd of about 50,000 people surged onto the stage. Scott was not accused of wrongdoing in connection with the crowd crush. He and other organizers faced 10 wrongful death lawsuits and had settled them all by last month, according to CNN affiliate KHOU.

Scott has been arrested at least twice for incidents at his concerts. The first time was during a performance at Lollapalooza in 2015, when police say Scott told attendees to climb over security barricades, CNN affiliate WLS reported. He later pleaded guilty to reckless conduct and was sentenced to a year of probation, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Additionally, he was charged with inciting a riot, disorderly conduct and endangering the welfare of a child in 2017 after a show in Rogers, Arkansas. Police said Scott “encouraged people to rush the stage and bypass safety protocols,” resulting in injuries. Two of the charges were dropped in 2018, but Scott pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and paid over $6,800 to two people who said they were injured at his show, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette reported.

He has two children with Kylie Jenner, the beauty mogul and youngest sister of the Kardashian-Jenner clan.
