Selma Blair talks about her abstinence and the plane incident in 2016.

In a new interview, the 52-year-old actress spoke about her decision to quit drinking.

She told Us Weekly: “If I hadn’t been sober, I wouldn’t have been able to get the MS diagnosis. If I hadn’t been sober, I wouldn’t be a good mother. I was self-medicating.”

She was then asked what her lowest point in terms of drinking was. She replied, “The plane incident. I drank too much in Mexico. I was so exhausted and dehydrated and hungover and didn’t know I had neurological problems. I didn’t understand anything. It was horrific and humiliating. I had to grow up.”
